The quick version
Use this to plan a nice sunset outing. The forecast and sky preview are estimates, and nearby spots or travel times can be wrong. Check the weather, access, and route before heading out.
Share your results, send us ideas, and please don’t spam or misuse the site. You’re responsible for staying safe; this isn’t an official weather-warning service.
By using Sunset Near (“the site”) you agree to these terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t use it.
What the site does
The site estimates how vivid a sunset or sunrise is likely to be, using public weather, air quality and airport data and our own model. It is for fun and planning.
Forecasts are estimates
Sky forecasts are uncertain. We give no guarantee that a forecast, score or verdict will be accurate, complete or up to date, and the sky may look different from what we predicted. The animated sky is an illustrative preview, not a photograph or a promise of what you will see.
Stay safe
Don’t use the site to make safety-critical decisions. It is not a weather warning service, a navigation aid or a substitute for official forecasts. If you head out to watch the sky, you’re responsible for your own safety: mind the terrain, tides, traffic, trespass rules, the weather and the dark. Never look directly at the sun.
Nearby spots and directions
Viewing spots may come from public map data and may not have a verified sunset view. Travel times are estimates, not live routes. Check opening hours, public access, transport, and the view yourself. Google Maps and other linked services have their own terms.
Feedback
We use feedback to improve the site. Please don’t include passwords, payment details, or someone else’s private information. An email address is optional, diagnostic logs can be switched off, and a reply isn’t guaranteed.
Acceptable use
Don’t abuse the site: no automated scraping or heavy automated requests, no attempts to disrupt or break into it, and no use that breaks the law. We rely on free third-party data services and may limit access to protect them.
Our content
Third-party data, fonts, libraries and visual assets remain subject to their respective licences. You may share links and screenshots of your own results. Weather data comes from Open-Meteo (CC BY 4.0), air quality from CAMS, airport reports from NOAA, and place data from Open-Meteo, BigDataCloud and © OpenStreetMap contributors.
No warranty, limited liability
The site is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent the law allows, we aren’t liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of the site or reliance on a forecast, including a wasted trip. Nothing here limits liability that can’t be limited by law.
Changes and availability
We may change or stop the site, or these terms, at any time. Continued use after a change means you accept it.
